- Do not lift or pull the appliance by the cord. Do not unplug by pulling the cord. Do not touch the cord or plug with wet hands, and do not insert a wet plug into a socket.
4.2 Connecting to power
Plug one end of the power cord into the socket on the back of the machine and the other end into a wall outlet.
4.3 Adding water and beans
Filling the water tank. Lift the tank lid, take out the tank, fill it with water (not above the MAX mark) and put it back.
Adding beans. Open the bean container lid, add coffee beans and close the lid.
4.4 First start
- Switch the machine on with the power switch on the back. The start screen appears and the machine automatically runs: self-check → heating → rinsing → reset.
- During the self-check the machine checks the water level, the brewing unit, the side door and the waste water tray. If it finds a problem, a warning appears; follow the instructions on the screen.
5. Making drinks
The drink menu has two pages. Switch between them with the ‹ and › arrows.
5.1 Black coffee (Espresso, Lungo, Americano)
- On the home screen, tap a drink to open its settings. For espresso, for example, you can set strength, extraction temperature, pre-infusion time and volume. Tap "Start brewing"; the settings are saved automatically.
- The machine brews the drink and shows the progress in percent. At 100% the "Enjoy your coffee" window appears and the drink is ready. To stop brewing, tap the cancel icon.
5.2 Coffee with milk (Cappuccino, Latte, Latte Macchiato, Macchiato, Flat White)
- Pour milk into the milk container (or put the milk tube directly into the bottom of a milk carton). Make sure the tube is firmly connected to the milk frother. Chilled milk at 4–8 °C is recommended. Check the frother knob: "Froth milk" gives hot milk foam, "Warm milk" gives hot milk.
- On the home screen, tap a drink to open its settings. For latte, for example, you can set strength, extraction temperature, pre-infusion time, coffee volume and milk frothing time. Tap "Start brewing"; the settings are saved automatically.
- The progress is shown in percent. At 100% a message confirms the drink is ready. You can stop at any time with the cancel icon.
- After a milk drink, the machine asks whether to deep-clean the milk frother. If you are making another milk drink straight away, tap "Cancel". Otherwise tap "Clean". See 7.1.3 "Deep cleaning the milk frother".
5.3 Hot milk and milk foam
- Pour milk into the container (or put the tube into the bottom of a milk carton) and connect the tube to the frother. Chilled milk at 4–8 °C is recommended. Set the frother knob to "Froth milk" (hot foam) or "Warm milk" (hot milk).
- Tap the milk drink icon on the home screen and set the time. Tap "Start brewing"; the settings are saved automatically.
- The progress is shown in percent; at 100% a message confirms the drink is ready. You can stop at any time with the cancel icon.
- Afterwards the machine asks about deep-cleaning the milk frother; proceed as after a coffee with milk.
5.4 Hot water
- Tap the hot water icon on the home screen and set the temperature and volume. Tap "Start"; the settings are saved automatically.
- The machine dispenses hot water and shows the progress in percent. At 100% a message confirms it is done. You can stop at any time with the cancel icon.
5.5 User profiles
Tap the avatar icon in the top left corner and choose user 1, 2, 3 or 4. Each user can set and save their own drink settings.
5.6 Adjusting the grind
The grind is set to the optimal level at the factory, so you can make coffee straight away. If the coffee tastes weak with little crema, or after a few cups it runs very slowly, drop by drop, adjust the grind:
- Open the bean container lid.
- Start making a coffee. When you hear the grinder, turn the grind adjustment knob to the position you need (1 is the finest, 5 is the coarsest).
- Watch how fast the coffee flows. If it flows too slowly or not at all, turn the knob towards 5. For a rich coffee with thick crema, turn it one step towards 1. Change only one step at a time to avoid damaging the machine.
Caution. A new grind setting takes effect only after at least two cups. If the result is still not right, turn the knob one more step. The texture of the used coffee grounds in the grounds container can also guide you.
6. Settings
Tap the settings icon at the bottom of the screen to open the settings menu.
Language. The machine supports several interface languages; choose the one you need.
Drink settings. Change all drink settings for the current user here; changes are saved to their profile automatically.
Auto power-off. Sets the time for automatic switch-off. After this time in standby, the machine and screen switch off; touch the screen to wake it.
Standby backlight. Screen brightness in standby: full, half or off.
Adjust while brewing. When on, drink settings can be changed during brewing (except extraction temperature). When off, settings are locked during brewing.
Sound. Turns sound signals on or off.
Descaling level. Five levels; at OFF the reminder is disabled. When total water use reaches the set volume, a descaling reminder appears. Volume per level: 1 — 80 L, 2 — 60 L, 3 — 40 L, 4 — 20 L, 5 — 10 L.
Engineer settings. For manufacturer service only.
Factory reset. Restores all settings to factory values: coffee settings, language, drinks, auto power-off, brightness, adjust while brewing, sound and descaling level.
Drink counter. Total number of drinks made, and the number for each drink.
Descaling count. How many times descaling has been completed.
7. Cleaning and care
7.1 Automatic cleaning
7.1.1 Quick rinse of the brewing unit. The boiler heats up and the pump flushes water through the brewing unit. Waste water runs out of the coffee spout during rinsing.
7.1.2 Quick rinse of the milk frother. The boiler heats up and the pump flushes the milk frother. Waste water runs out of the coffee spout.
7.1.3 Deep cleaning the milk frother. Following the on-screen prompts, wash the milk container thoroughly, fill it with clean water and tap the clean icon. The machine deep-cleans the frother automatically; the cleaning time is adjustable. Waste water runs out of the coffee spout.
7.1.4 Machine maintenance. Includes deep cleaning of the brewing unit (with a tablet), deep cleaning of the milk system (with a tablet) and descaling.
- Deep cleaning the brewing unit (tablet). Start the program, place a brewing unit cleaning tablet in the brewing unit when prompted and tap "Next". Waste water runs out of the coffee spout during cleaning.
- Deep cleaning the milk system (tablet). Start the program, put a milk system cleaning tablet and clean water into the milk container when prompted, then tap "Next". Waste water runs out of the coffee spout. Afterwards, wash the container, refill it with clean water and run the cleaning again to remove any cleaner residue.
- Descaling. Tap "Start descaling". When prompted, pour coffee machine descaler and clean water into the water tank up to MAX. Place a large container under the coffee spout and tap "Next". Watch the container so it does not overflow. Afterwards, wash the tank, refill it with clean water and run a rinse to remove any descaler residue.
7.2 Manual cleaning
Clean these parts regularly:
- Grounds container — after every emptying.
- Waste water tray assembly (tray, cover, drip tray) — empty and wash all parts when the float rises.
- Water tank — wash regularly with a soft cloth and a mild detergent (once a month recommended).
- Coffee spout — wipe regularly with a sponge or cloth; clear blockages with a toothpick.
- Bean container — wipe with a dry cloth from time to time (once a month recommended).
-
Ground coffee chute (once a month or when blocked).
Note. Do this only with the machine switched off and unplugged.
① Open the side door. ② Clean the chute with the brush. ③ Remove visible coffee grounds inside the machine, using a vacuum cleaner if needed. ④ Remove grounds and dirt from the waste water tray.
-
Manual cleaning of the milk frother (once a month recommended).
① Switch the machine off. ② Disconnect the milk tube from the frother. ③ Press the left and right clips inwards and pull down to remove the whole frother. ④ Take the frother apart and rinse all parts under running water; if needed, soak them for 10 minutes in milk system cleaner first.
Note. Rinse the air slot on the air adjustment knob thoroughly and do not damage it, or milk frothing will not work properly.
⑤ Reassemble all parts in reverse order and check that the air adjustment knob is fitted correctly. It has 5 positions: fine for dense, silky foam, coarse for bigger bubbles. Adjust it to the foam you like.
-
Manual cleaning of the brewing unit (every two weeks recommended).
① Switch the machine off and open the side door. ② Press the two orange buttons on the sides of the brewing unit in the PUSH direction and pull the unit out. ③ Soak the unit in clean water for 5 minutes, then rinse under the tap. Do not put it in a dishwasher or use any detergent. ④ With the door open, brush away visible coffee grounds inside the machine. ⑤ Press the brewing head of the clean unit all the way down, slide the unit back in and press on the PUSH mark until it clicks into place.
Note. Make sure both orange buttons have returned to their original position, or the machine may be damaged.
7.3 Removing, refitting and cleaning the burrs
If no ground coffee comes out, the chute is blocked, a foreign object is stuck in the grinder or the burrs are fitted wrongly:
- Switch the machine off and remove all beans from the bean container.
- Turn the grinder cover anticlockwise until the unlock mark lines up with the rib in the bean container, then lift off the cover.
- Turn the grind adjustment knob to 5, lift it and turn it clockwise to the unlock position to release the burrs.
- Pull the burr handle up to remove the burr assembly.
- Remove all ground coffee and bean residue from the grinding chamber; a vacuum cleaner and a small flat screwdriver help. Clean thoroughly, or the burrs will not sit correctly.
- Refit the burr assembly. Turn the grind adjustment knob anticlockwise to 5, lift it and keep turning anticlockwise to 3 or another suitable level, then pull the burr handle again. If the burr sleeve does not come out, it is locked correctly. If it comes out, it is not fully locked: turn the knob clockwise to unlock, press the burr firmly into place and turn the knob anticlockwise to 3 or another suitable level.
- Refit the grinder cover and turn it clockwise until the lock mark lines up with the rib in the bean container.
8. Transport and disposal
8.1 Transport
- Keep the original packaging for future transport.
- Drain all remaining water from the coffee machine before transport to avoid damage.
- Empty the water tank and the waste water tray, and wipe the machine inside and out.
8.2 Coffee waste
Coffee waste is fully organic and can be disposed of with household waste.
8.3 Waste water
Waste water from brewing and cleaning meets the standards for household waste water and can go into a normal drain.
8.4 Disposal of the appliance
